Why is it important to take allergy shots?

Allergy shots will reduce the risk of taking medications for long-term and when the normal medication does not control the symptoms caused by various allergens. Also, it reduces the impact on the immune system and helps prevent further damage caused by long-term medications. Usually, allergies are contagious and are not comfortable with a group of people. Allergy shots will help reduce the severity and provide essential relief.

These will occur within 30 minutes of the injection. Usually, the doctor will ask to wait for 30 minutes after the injection is administered. Who should not take the SCIT allergy shot

  • Pre-term infants and pregnant women should consult a doctor for the allergy shots.
  • If a person is suffering from psoriasis, the doctor should approve the skin test and ensure the person will not be allergic to the shot.
  • If a person has missed the allergy shots then the dosage and strength may need change. One must consult the doctor on the same.
  • If a person is suffering from severe asthma.
  • If a person is taking blood pressure medications. Please consult with a doctor.
  • If a person has historical cardiac arrest or any severe sickness. Please consult with a doctor.

If the allergy shots do not work after the complete dose, the physician/doctor should provide other alternate solution. The allergy will not stop immediately. It will improve during the first year of treatment and the following year is more successful.

India has high pollution due to which allergy attacks become common. All age groups must consult a doctor and enroll themselves in government accredited immunotherapy program to avoid any severe illness.
